I ❤️ Drums.  Oil on canvas.  36 x 48 inches.  2007.  In honor of the summer music festivals. 

As viewers, we stand transfixed at an outdoor concert directly behind a young woman who is obviously a drumming aficionado.  Though one can almost feel the grass beneath one's feet, depicted here in detailed looping, and the freshness of the summer air on the cheek, we listen to music that we cannot hear.  Looking closely, we catch the rhythm and beat in the color and fanciful play of lines.  The artist uses tenebrism to illuminate the keyboards while obscuring the rest of the stage in passionate, rich reds.  A smoky, theatric atmosphere is produced which, coupled with the woman reverentially below, suggests a religious ceremony, viz an altar of music.  This is an exciting and unique piece, perfect for the avid concertgoer, reminiscent of Coachella et al.
