The Resurrection of Consciousness. Oil on Canvas. 16 x 20 inches.

The Resurrection of Consciousness modern art Christ Consciousness Icon, designed for the sustained awakening. Here, the whole drama takes place within: a portrait or personification of one’s personal redemption i.e. liberation.

In the middle of the lower, dark-purple, pool of samsara (or Hades) where humans are, ‘full of some sorrow or another,’ continuously dependent on objects or circumstances for a bit of pleasure lies the remains of a cross detailed with the elementals written in Devanāgarī script: earth, water, fire.

‘One should uplift oneself by oneself. One should not lower oneself. For, the self alone is the friend of oneself; the self alone is the enemy of oneself.’ Bhagavad Gita 6.5

Balancing on the edge of the precipice between hades and the ochre-laden lands of knowledge, is the Resurrected Christ, the Resurrected Christ Consciousness or one’s own Higher Self, clothed in the orange robes symbolizing the flame of knowledge. Armed with the Śāstra (scripture) in His left hand, He reaches down to lift up those caught in the whirlpool of samsara. He has transcended the world (the elements) of name and form; she has awakened herself out of identification with form and so is no longer bound to that level of reality. She keeps her inner world sacred and enters the dominion of Awareness.

Featured and emphasized is the divine essence of Being itself with surrounding rainbow of Sākṣī (pure awareness) and within the three visible sides of the cross of His halo, the Greek word O Ѡ N, which means “I AM” or "The One Who Is."

Standing on the golden shore on either side of the Resurrected Christ are a deer and a cat with their own halos indicating dharma, the way of life which maintains the harmony of creation itself, the avoidance of the exploitation of nature, the reverence of which is further represented by the green pine trees and large blue skies in the background with simple shelter denoting the possibilities of a universal cycle of harmony maintained in the form of taking and giving proportionately.

Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Corinthians 3:17
