In psychological circles the suffering of someone with CPTSD or PTSD is compared to living in a house but only occupying the basement or attic. Rather than hidden within a basement, Karma Yoga: Healing I depicts a home in which every room is engaged with life.

As if out of a dream, we see a pink & violet three story house draped with blue awnings and green curtains in which all of the eight windows appears a scene, evidence of the life within. 

Light Power Love

Beginning on the first floor left window, there’s a hand painting music notes and the equation for photosynthesis. The other windows include scenes of peaceful home life, a cat surrounded by hearts, a sunset, bouquet of flowers and, finally, a devi female goddess dancing, an embodiment of divine female energy or shakti. 

Framed by magical flowers and yellow & pink clouds, there are 12 steps, the color of the chakras, leading up to the front door. Upon the violet door is a small plate with the Tetragrammaton YHWH the name of God meant to be breathed, Yahweh, rather than pronounced, often interpreted as, ‘I am.’

Floating in the blue, yellow and pink sky are the svadhisthana and vishuddha chakras. Amongst the flowers the viewer will see a bee representing the ‘great teacher;’ it teaches to extract the essence from everything. 

Finally the whole whimsical dreamscape is tied up as if by a bow with the line, ‘O when the saints go marching in,’ from the hymn of the same name, seen at the top above within the clouds and below on the chakra steps themselves. 

*Note* This painting is the first in the triptych Liberation Yoga; the second is titled Upasana Yoga: Healing II. The third is set to be completed in the following year titled Jnana Yoga: Healing III.
